Winning Opportunities
The convention will offer a number of sweepstakes, raffles and contests. Here are what are planned:
Lucky 21
Carrying out the theme for the 21st National Sweepstakes Convention, we are awarding a special prize to every 21st registrant for the convention.
Registration will be in the order in which applications are received. Cancellations will increase the number of registrant required for the next award.
The names of each 21st registrant are posted periodically on this site. Prizes will be given at the convention itself.
Check-In Drawings: #1 "My Choice"
At the time that registration materials are picked up at the convention, each registrant may choose to enter one of a series of drawings for individual prizes. The individual prizes include casino visit, Dinner-Theater, 3 x 5 cards with NAZT etc.
One prize (for women only) is a 60-minute massage at your hotel room by a representative of Avivage Massage.
A trip for two to the Treasure Island Casino will be one of the prizes.
Two prizes of admission to the Old Log Theater event described in the "Optional Extras" section of this website will be offered.
Persons entering the 3 x 5 contest are asked to submit their entry by an actual 3 x 5 card with Name, Address, Zip and telephone (NAZT). Four to eight cards will be selected for persons attending to duplicate. We expect approximately 300 cards to be completed for each "winner."
Entries not selected for reproduction will be mailed to a "Nick's Pick" or "Won-to-Win" sweepstakes calling for 3X5 cards with only NAZT, having multiple cash prizes and ending after the convention dates.
Check-In Drawings: #2 "Draw 21"
Each registrant will be allowed to pick two playing cards. If the two cards total 21 (i.e., an ace and a picture card or 10), a prize of modest value will be awarded.
A Stirring Surprise
Each registrant will receive a paint stirrer in his or her tote bag given at sign in time. Twenty-one (21) of those stirrers are marked "Winner". If you receive one of those "Winner" paint stirrers, you will receive a token prize. If your paint stirrer does not say "Winner", it can be used to stir paint.
Gail's Sweepstakes
Gail Ugro, co-host of the convention, will sponsor a unique sweepstakes for a special prize to be awarded on Sunday morning.
Meet & Greet
At the Thursday evening Meet & Greet Reception. each person will be given a playing card. The object is to find others to form a "winning hand" of four of a kind, a flush or a straight. Each member of the first ten groups to form a winning hand will receive a prize. Ten sets of winners (40 to 50 people) will be entered into a drawing to win $100 cash contributed by Online-Sweepstakes.
Session Drawings
Each registrant will automatically be entered into the five "session drawing" main prize drawings (two each on Friday and Saturday and one on Sunday). To ensure the greatest spread of prizes, session drawing wins are limited to one prize per session per registrant. Attendance is not required in order to receive a prize.
SweepsU.com Instant Win Button Game
Mystery Spotters will award a token prize similar to those awarded last year at preselected times beginning at the Thursday evening reception through Sunday at Noon. Preliminary judging was by an accredited art teacher and longtime sweepstaker who selected finalists on the basis of originality, design and adherence to the theme of "Minnesota's 'Lucky 21' Sweepstakes Convention." Selection of winners was made by members of the Minnesota SweepItUp Club who had not submitted a finalist postcard. Only the non-address side of the postcard was judged in the final round. Winners have been selected and will be announced at the convention with the winning decorated postcard put on display.
